Digital native student vs Digital immigrant teachers

Discussion on Digital native student vs. Digital immigrant Teachers was very interesting and informative. It’s rightly stated that children of today are the digital native because we can obviously make out in our day to day life experiences. Since children are born in the digital world, they are very fast at learning to use digital devices.  They are definitely different from what we were as a student. Their learning style has changed therefore as teachers; we need to adapt our self and adjust to the contemporary learning style of the new generation.

It is therefore, in the recent years, there has been increase of interest in how ICT can best be used to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of teaching and learning practices in our classrooms, especially among the education community. Several terminologies have been used to indicate this notion of using ICT in our classroom. For instance blended learning, e-learning, distance learning and ICT integrated learning etc. Of these, “ICT in education”seems to be the most widely used term to indicate this process of using Information and communication Technology in the classrooms worldwide.

Blog & Blogging

The ICT tool, blog and Blogging is an beneficial and interesting tool in a 21^st century. I never knew its benefits until I have started using it.  It promotes critical thinking promoting language and writing shills.
For teachers this tool can be very helpful in sharing the teaching and learning materials and oneself getting expose. There could be many more benefits if continued using it.

Project 2: Video tutorial

It is a great experience to be able to create a video tutorial by our own.  Creating it, was not a tough task for most of us yet, the challenging portion of the assignment was to interact in a wiki for this entire task for many of us do not have the assess to net facilities. With no option, we even had to interact by email and other apps. Somehow we could complete the task in time as per the instructions given.

In our discussion, the group agreed to work on a Mathematics lesson for class III on the topic “Analog clock”. For this we developed the lesson plan and shared among group members. The lesson was then divided into four parts. As instructed by our tutor, each of us agreed to create the video tutorial for the duration of about 4-5 minutes that make a complete lesson of 15 minutes.  However I got the final clip after several attempt but then I am proud that I could do it by myself having handed this software (camtasia) without any body’s assistance.

Teaching children through Video tutorial will be very useful in our future if not now. This kind of teaching has tremendous advantages as it can be recorded and use as many times as possible. It can solve the problem of teacher shortage and teaching and learning can happen anywhere, anytime and there could be many other benefits.

Never the less, keeping in view of all these benefits, it was worth learning and I will keep learning. The knowledge that I have gained from this assignment will surely benefit me as to my profession.

Quiz (Project 1).

Well, this was the first experience for me to use this software wondershare quizecreator and I found it very interesting. I have learned every bit of it like how to set questions, import videos and animation, and add audio in it. 

In the beginning I was bit worried about how to start, never heard of this software before. I started gaining confident in process of fiddling the software. In fact it was so easy because everything were given in itself including the examples of how to set the questions. 

Not to exaggerate, it was  fun doing this assignment and had a great feeling to go through the quiz created by myself. ICT is so great, a wonder to me for making difficult tasks so easy.

The most difficult part of the assignment was to get in touch with the group members and discuss in a wiki. I regret for not able to use the wiki as most of my group members are in a place without net facilities. However we have managed to discuss through mobile apps such as messenger, wechat, voice call, email and even through text messages. I am very satisfied with the final outcome of our hard work and of course I have learned what was intended to be learned. It’s always an advantage to gain something that’s going to benefit you in the future.

Reflective Journal on Microsoft word Activities

I started my ICT Microsoft word activity (1-7) on 3/8 /2015. By just scanning through the question, the activities looked quite simple but were not as they seem to be. The toughest part for me was construction of triangle and the arrow. I tried it in several ways however I was unsuccessful to come up with the right shape. Similarly, I got stuck at other areas too and eventually I had to get help from other experts.

Though I rendered help from other, I have learned a lot from them and now I am confident that I can do it by myself from now. What I need to keep in mind is that I have to apply this knowledge frequently in order to get well acquainted with it.

Infect, the activities (1-7) were exciting each demanding various techniques and were very informative too. I came to realize how important each activity was for the teachers. All the activities were worth solving and these are going to help us a lot in our profession.  I am pretty self-assured now that I can implement all of these activities without anyone’s help, rather I would come forward to help others with confident. I appreciate the way the activities were set because each activity were well thought and are very appropriate. I wish we had enough time to learn similar activities during our last summer residential class at Samtse NIE. Anyhow, I would like to save this work for my future reference.

      Thanks to the tutor for making me achieve the intended objectives through these activities. The skills and knowledge that I have gained not only  make me easier for planning and preparing of lessons and designing materials but also enhance my professional image in the world of ICT.
